Lincoln City travel to the Lamex Stadium to face Stevenage Fc in game number six in this season Sky Bet League Two campaign.
Lincoln head into the game off the back of a goalless draw at home to Luton Town.
It was an excellent team performance by the Imps and they recorded their first clean sheet of the season against a free scoring Hatters side.
On the other hand, in their most recent game, Stevenage came out 1-0 winners in a tightly contested match against Cheltenham Town.
Sky Bet are expecting a very close affair in Saturday’s game. Home advantage means Stevenage are favourites at 6/4. An away win is not far behind at 7/4 and a draw is 12/5.
Both sides have the capability to score. This is why Sky are offering odds of 4/5 for over 2.5 goals in the match.
Our prediction for Saturday’s match is for Matt Rhead to score first, and Lincoln come out 2-1 winners. Sky Bet will give you a healthy 40/1.
Lincoln City and Stevenage have only played each other three times. Stevenage edge the head-to-head record with The Boro winning two games, and Lincoln just the one. Stevenage have won the last two encounters, but both games were separated by only the one goal.
Alongside Exeter, Stevenage are yet to lose so far this season. They enter Saturday’s match in red hot form having won their last three games.
Stevenage are amongst the top scorers in the league and they carry a real threat going forward.
Despite that, Stevenage have looked very vulnerable from set-pieces this season. A large proportion of the goals Stevenage have conceded have been from dead ball situations.
There will be a real opportunity to score if Lincoln can get the delivery right on Saturday. But on the flip side, Lincoln should avoid free-kicks around the penalty area as Stevenage defender Joe Martin holds real quality in that department.
Striker Danny Newton is definitely someone to keep an eye on. The forward has scored three goals this season and is a serious threat in the penalty area. He has scored all of his goals inside the box and is a deadly finisher. Lincoln will have to restrict Newton to no space in the penalty area but, that is easier said than done.
Another player to watch out for is full back Joe Martin. Martin joined Stevenage this season. He signed from Millwall but he has spent most of his playing time at Gillingham FC. Joe Martin is dangerous from set-pieces, as he scored the winner against Cheltenham with a fine free-kick.
It is very hard to separate the two sides so it should be an interesting game on Saturday.
